2024 Another High

OHV event participation has reached a new high, with 4624 starts over 25 events. This was 261 people over last year, itself a record.

Big Trig Features Orongorongo Huts

100 teams averaging 3 people enjoyed good conditions in yesterday's Big Trig rogaine in Remutaka Forest Park. The course made a feature of the 50-odd huts in the Orongorongo Valley.

Huttie Hustles Hungarian Hills

Tim Robertson was in good form in hilly forest in Hungary over the weekend. He brought the mens relay team into 21st place (12th country) with a storming run, overtaking 13 teams on the way.

Pedals to Podium - Update - Twice!

Rachel Drew has achieved a podium finish in the opening event of the World Masters MTBO Champs in Denmark. She placed 6th W45 in the Mass Start event. Edit - Rachel also came 5th in Saturday's Long distance.

Placings to Hutt Valley Boys

HVHS boys capped off a successful school season with their placings in the NZSS relay at Porirua today. The Junior Boys team placed third, and the Intermediate Boys

School Team Clears the Course

Just back from JWOC, Jake McLellan's team scored the maximum of 1780 points in today's Secondary Schools Rogaine Champs held at Wainuiomata. While Hamish Laing and Stephen Molineux managed 1490 in the afterwork event on the same course.

OHV Helps NZ to Tenth Place

OHV contributed half of the Mixed Sprint Relay which finished tenth in Edinburgh on Sunday. Laura and Tim Robertson were joined by Joe Lynch and Lizzie Ingham.

Podium Position for Tim

Tim Robertson has made the international podium again! In the World Champs Individual Sprint in Edinburgh, he finished 6th, 43 seconds behind Sweden's Martin Regborn. And right behind Tim was former Wellingtonian Joe Lynch!

OHV in World Sprint Champs This Weekend

With the World Champs in Sprint Orienteering just round the corner, NZ's 8-strong team includes two OHV members, a Lower Hutt resident, and a former Wellingtonian! Interesting to reflect on the development of the sprint in NZ, in particular the role of O-Max which we kicked off last century before there was even a NZ or a World championship.

Fabulous Finish at JWOC

Jake posted another great result in the Middle distance on Friday. And in the relay Saturday the top boys team (Jake on 2nd leg) finished 12th by country, and the girls in a best ever 8th.

Jake McLellan at JWOC - Update

Jake ran a fine third leg in Monday's JWOC Sprint Relay in Czechia, for a team result of 26th out of 77. And yesterday his Individual Sprint placing was 133/170. Today the team is running the Long. Edit: Jake an excellent 48th!

Ted Tops in Golden Bay

Ted van Geldermalsen was our most successful competitor in the Kings Birthday events held over the long weekend. He posted a 2nd and two firsts in a large M70A field. And Gavin Scott went 1-2-2 in M80.

Tim and Laura Sprint Again

Another World Cup last weekend in Italy, with Tim Robertson 7th in an Individual race, and Laura 41st. NZ was 13th nation in a Sprint Relay.
