Tim Top Thirty

Published Sat 10 Jul 2021

After 42nd place in the World Middle Distance midweek, Tim Robertson finished a better and highly respectable 27th in the Long yesterday. The course was maybe a bit disappointing  with long track route choices taken to avoid the cliffy down-and-ups, sometimes using the same track several times. However there were plenty of short legs amongst the rocks, calling on accuracy as well as ability to last for nearly 2 hours. See the detail at the WOC website, read the comments at WorldofO

PS The race has re-ignited a perennial controversy about following. The mens winner Kasper Fosser starterd 4th last, picked up the runner in front and the runner in front of him. The three finished within seconds to secure the medals. Fourth placed Daniel Hubman who also caught and ran with his previous starter, missed 3rd by 17 seconds. There weren't any looping arrangements as there sometimes are.
