Anna Robertson and Gavin Scott scored national titles at the NZ Orienteering Championships, held at Easter in Nelson. Anna won W55A in the sprint round Nelson College, while Gavin was the fastest M80 in the middle distance at Canaan Downs on the top of the Takaka hill. Gavin was also second in the sprint (by 1 second!) and in the long, also at Canaan Downs, where the limestone geology has created numerous depressions and rock features. The picturesque terrain is partly retired farmland but mostly passable beech forest. The famous Harwoods Hole is nearby. Other second placings were bagged by Jill Dalton in W75A (3), Jake McLellan in M16A (2) and Michael Wood in M75A (2). A summary of OHV results is here, and the full results are here.
