Laing Makes Three from Three

Published Wed 28 Jun 2023

Last week's rogaine wasn't a record, but still nearly 400 on a calm clear evening. Hamish Laing's third win this year was also clear - each by a couple of hundred points! His partners are Sam Robson (this time) and Jack Thomson.

They and Simon Wills/Tom Middlemiss knocked off controls at better than 6min each, an interesting statistic calculated by the planners for all teams! There were mixed teams in 5th/6th while Annaliese Elliott, Katie Cory-Wright and Sophie Hocart came 8th. Nicola and Peter Mitchell topped the 3hr walk.

Nearly half the field opts for the 90-minute course and this was won by Sean Martin/Jonathan Moulds. Walking winners Theo Wordsworth/Lucas Macdonald were only 20 points behind, with the 3rd-highest score. From the start in Tanera Park, the course spanned the Botanic Gardens, to the Wind Turbine and Berhampore. Full results are at www.ohv.org.nz/rogaining/rogaining-results/
